In the digital age, Algonomia champions the philosophy of open source, aspiring to make tax systems more comprehensible, transparent, and accessible for everyone. Whether you are an academic researcher, an individual taxpayer, or a part of tax administration, our platform seeks to provide tools and resources that shed light on the intricate nuances of global tax structures.

Embracing Open Source

Tax systems, with their innate complexities, have long been a topic of extensive discussion and occasional bewilderment. By unveiling our cutting-edge tax algorithms to the public, Algonomia aims to furnish a robust toolkit that can decipher and simplify these systems. We are embarking on a journey of collaborative knowledge-sharing, aiming to demystify tax intricacies with the collective wisdom and innovation of our community.

Featured Algorithms

  • Transfer Pricing Algorithm: Designed with precision, this tool focuses on automating calculations related to transfer prices and TP adjustments. By evaluating the tax ramifications throughout a multinational enterprise (MNE), it offers a streamlined process to pinpoint the most effective transfer pricing strategy;
  • Pillar 2 Algorithm: A comprehensive solution that walks users through every stage, from the foundational scope analysis to the nuanced charging mechanisms. With provisions for safe harbor and a roadmap for the diverse elections necessary, this algorithm ensures a thorough computation of the Top Up tax;
  • Tax accounting algorithm : A transparent method to mobilize the various inputs and differences collected during the reconciliation process to generate both the Tax proof and the Deferred Tax Report, compatible with the Pillar 2 process.

Sharing Code, documentation and tax engine

To facilitate transparency and ease of access, we have meticulously decomposed our material:

  • Source Code: Available on our GitHub repository Algonomia's GitHub under the AGPL (GNU Affero General Public License), which allows others to modify and share the code, ensuring that improvements flow back to the community,
  • Wiki Content: Distributed under the CC BY-NC-SA (Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike) license, which permits non-commercial use, redistribution, and adaptation, provided appropriate attribution is given and adaptations are shared under the same license,
  • Online API Computation Engine: A server is available to anyone wishing to test the algorithms, without having to operate them, using API. Uses with real tax payer data of any kind is prohibited as this is only set-up for test. For any use with real data, please set-up an independant secure server using the source code, or contact us (whether business, administration or academics)

How the Tax Community Benefits

By offering open-source algorithms, we aim to make the tax landscape more accessible, transparent, and efficient for all. Here is a breakdown of the benefits for each group:

  • Tax Payers: Equipped with Algonomia's algorithms, taxpayers can automate their tax computations and model alternate scenarios to assess their tax impact. The transparency of our computational steps ensures clarity at every juncture, allowing for confident and informed decision-making. Please note that the present wiki is independent from Algonomia's commercial website, where commercial SaaS solutions using these algorithms are presented.
  • Tax Administrations: By integrating our algorithms, administrations can run computations using taxpayer data to assess policy impact, optimize revenue collection strategies, and gauge the effectiveness of current regulations. Furthermore, these tools provide a reliable framework to automate complex tax procedures, bolstering efficiency and ensuring comprehensive compliance,
  • Academics: Scholars and researchers now have access to the precise tax computation algorithms utilized by taxpayers, marking a notable advancement in tax economics and legal analytical methods. This access facilitates a more refined, quantitative approach to public policy assessment. As a committed member of this academic community, Algonomia earnestly wishes to contribute and augment the collective understanding in this domain with its own research program,
  • Software Providers: Companies at the forefront of software development can leverage and expand upon Algonomia's open-source algorithms. By adapting and innovating, they can craft tailored solutions for specific market needs or challenges,
  • Tax Professionals: For those deeply entrenched in the tax world and students arriving in the tax world, this wiki becomes an invaluable resource. By dissecting our algorithms, professionals can refine their expertise, and/or challenge ours, stay updated with the latest methodologies, discover the "behind the scene" computational aspects, and serve their clients with enhanced precision,
  • General Public: For the curious minds seeking insights into the tax domain, this wiki offers a window into its complexities. Even without a professional background, individuals can familiarize themselves with tax mechanics, demystifying what often seems like a daunting realm, and discover the computational complexities they require.

General Development Program

The Open Source Project presented in this page is an ongoing work and its documentation on this wiki is also a work in progress. It is by no means complete and definitive, and changes will occur in the upcoming weeks and months.

Both GitHub and MediaWiki are amazing tools to manage collaborative work and track the progress and modifications that happen with time.

The general to-do list is presented in the General Development Program.
